Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY first appeared on the scene in NYC in 1982 as a new ensemble of seasoned professional instrumentalists, with a concert at the Trinity Church on Wall Street.  Founded by John Henry Lambert, a young trumpeter residing in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of NYC, Gramercy Brass Orchestra in its 40 years has appeared at Lincoln Center, Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College, Jazz at Lincoln Center, on tour at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg PA, Shandelee Music Festival in Livingston Manor NY, many NYC parks, and has produced four celebrated commercially released recordings.

Gramercy Brass Orchestra has also made appearances for major corporate events of Bristol Myers Squibb, British Airways, Volvo, Nike, Avon Products, The National Arts Club, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park Conservancy, ANA Educational Foundation, Union Square and Flatiron Partnerships, World Financial Center, the City of New York, and many others.

Notable in the 40-year history of Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY is its relationship with American Music Icon Dave Brubeck, which led to two acclaimed performances in the year 2000 with the famous Dave Brubeck Quartet titled “NYC Celebrates Dave Brubeck at 80.” Dave and son Christopher Brubeck later helped produce “Brubeck: Bold & Brassy,” a unique recording of all Brubeck music by Gramercy Brass Orchestra, released on the eOne record label.

As a nonprofit organization, Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY established its signature music education institute, Gramercy Brass Band Camp in 2005, held each summer at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University in NJ.
